Why Class IV Laser Therapy?

To deliver a therapeutic dosage to a larger volume of tissue and to deeper targets in a shorter period of time.

Mechanisms of Action

Class IV laser produces four therapeutic beams 660, 800, 905 and 970 nano meter. A 30 minute treatment with a class IV laser is equivalent to 12 hours continuous treatment with a class 3 laser.

Laser Therapeutic Effects

During each painless treatment, laser energy increases circulation, drawing water, oxygen, and nutrients to the damaged area. This creates an optimal healing environment that reduces inflammation, swelling, muscle spasms, stiffness, and pain. As the injured area returns to normal, function is restored and pain is relieved.

Cellular Effects

During K-Laser Therapy, infrared laser light interacts with tissues at the cellular level increasing metabolic activity within the cell. By improving the transport of nutrients across the cell membrane, the increased production of cellular energy (ATP) is stimulated. The cascade of beneficial effects that follows includes increased cellular function and tissue repair.

Current Research Studies

  • (K-Laser) patients experienced significant reduction in modified total neuropathy scores at all time points. There were no observed complications among patient treated with (K-Laser). (K-Laser) may improve neuropathy symptoms through a number of plausible mechanisms including prevention of neural apoptosis and enhancement of neurite outgrowth.   • Diabetic peripheral neuropathy is one of the most common types of peripheral neuropathy. It is considered to be progressive and irreversible. However, treatment with K-Laser has shown that may not be true. In this 4 week study patients treated with the laser had significant increase in nerve conduction. Microcirculation (skin blood perfusion) was increased by 35.8% at the heel, big toe, and little toes. Patients reported a 26.4% decrease in pain levels. The results showed motor, sensory, and circulation improvements in just 4 weeks of treatment with the laser. Click here for full study.

  • Laser is showing promising results to treat pain in the extremities. The laser produces an anti-inflammatory effect and increases microcirculation resulting in increased healing. The increased microcirculation induces tissue repair processes and helps reduce pain. This allows increased oxygen and nutrition to the damaged area. Click here for full study.

  • Another study took skin biopsies to assess nerve density and regeneration. Patients received 12 laser treatments, 3 times a week for 4 weeks. The results showed an average improvement in patient reported symptoms and physical exam findings of 40.05% with some patients having 70.59% improvement. Nerve density showed an average improvement of 33.15%. Nerve density of the feet showed an average change of 56.54%.   • Research using a class IV laser has found it is effective in increasing blood flow to the distal forearm. This is a noninvasive treatment to improve blood flow and perhaps tissue healing. Click here for full study.
